“This work explores the relationship between reality and representation and between natural and artificial by using the technique of chlorotype, a form of engraving which, thanks to chlorophyll and the sun, allows designs to be extracted naturally from plant materials such as leaves.”
Gaia Di Bello is a Swiss artist based in Ticino, Switzerland. Her work explores use and disuse, presence and absence, memory and forgetting by combining elements from the sacred, the profane, and the natural world. The materials she chooses carry their own histories and tales, incorporating personal and collective memory. Reworked into new shapes and contexts, they offer renewed narratives and create a dialogue between the visible and the hidden, the remembered and the forgotten.
