Hidden identities seem to drift and take whatever they find lying around. They are reshaping and reinterpreting them. A tactile connection with materiality in contrast with the untouchable digital space. Hands that hold one another, or reach inward to touch oneself. Letting go, and moving uncontrollably with the fate we inherit. Typing to find answers, calling your loved ones, working through the night. Brutally ripping out, collecting, ripping out again. Against oppression, against the fires burning up. Reclaiming the past, its materials, and the personas we inhabit. For this issue, the artists engage with their surroundings, questioning their truth, form, space, and context. Gestures, subtle or harsh, are hidden throughout the works. A tension emerges while engaging with each work—tension as a physical act, challenging the material, pushing it beyond its limits, or as a metaphorical act: as tension between people, ideologies, and power; between absurd work life, love, family, selfhood, and nature.
