“Finding myself between mediums and artistic contexts, my practice explores notions of care, attention, embodiment, vulnerability, and collectivity. My creative process might begin when I sense some kind of gap or incongruity in my daily life - often echoing in my body and mind - and I attempt to make it visible or tactile through performance, choreography, writing, sound, and more. Currently, I am writing on the intersections between deep listening and somatic movement.”

Lara Maia (London, 1998) is a Portuguese transdisciplinary artist based in Zurich. Her practice explores care, attention, embodiment, vulnerability, and collectivity through performance, choreography, writing, and sound. She holds a BA in Dance from the Escola Superior de Dança and is completing an MA in Fine Arts (Minor in Social Art Practices) at ZHdK. She has shown her work in contexts such as BoCA Biennial, Festival InShadow, and I Bienal da Fábrica.
