In the work they don’t let me sleep at night vibrant colors and surreal, fictive worlds are used to create an eerie, dreamlike atmosphere, one that lingers like a fever dream. The work explores the theme of intrusive thoughts, blurring the boundaries between reality and imagination, leaving the viewer suspended in a state of restless uncertainty.
“My work usually requires research, which I mostly do by reading texts and watching documentaries. As I think in pictures, I get inspired a lot by photos or films or sometimes just by looking at a landscape, object or observing. I tend to plan a lot while also allowing to create intuitively and listening to my gut feeling.”
Marta Ferri (*2004) is an Italian artist based in Zurich, Switzerland. She mostly works with photography and videos and her works often originate from observations and thoughts and the wish to document what is happening in the world around her.
She holds a BFA from ZHdK and has recently attended Eaxo residency at Stavros, Greece.
