“In this work, I was inspired by the book Thought Forms by Annie Besant and began creating visual forms for different moments in my life. This one is of when I’m in the studio. It feels connected to the energy of bloom, not just from the shape but the creational energy behind it.”
In Tilly Joos paintings, she works with nature, memories, and symbols through abstraction and repetition. She’s drawn to symbols not to define them, but for their shifting meanings and unanswered questions. Returning to certain forms reveals their evolving energy what once felt personal can become collective or unknown. Her works aren’t fixed symbols but visual objects that hold presence, similar to a talisman.
